Clive R. Knights
Portland
State University - Clive R. Knights is
Professor of Architecture & Chair of the Department
of Architecture, Portland State University and practices
architecture and art. He holds professional
architectural design undergraduate and graduate degrees
from Portsmouth Polytechnic, UK, and a Master of
Philosophy from Cambridge University. He has taught
architecture for over 20 years and was a full-time
lecturer at Sheffield University in England for 6 years
before moving to PSU in 1995. Publications include
numerous journal articles and book chapters on the
theory, history and pedagogy of architecture. His design
work is frequently included in both international and
domestic exhibits.
Craig Olson
Canoe
- Olson holds an MFA in Product Design from University of
Illinois. Olson is formerly the Regional Sales
Director for Design Within Reach with whom he had a long
tenure. Olson has been involved in the design
communities of Chicago, San Francisco, and Portland, where
he resides in a 60s modern “Rummer” home.
He co-owns Canoe in downtown Portland with Sean
Igo.
Chris Soderberg
Soderberg
Laman Designers - Chris Soderberg is a principal designer
at Soderberg Laman Designers, a small architectural and
interior design firm that focuses on innovative design with
classic sensibilities. Chris established Soderberg Laman
Designers in 1991 with Ann Laman.
Jeff Kovel
Skylab
Architecture. Kovel studied architecture at Cornell
University. He founded skylab design group in 1999 and is
the co-owner of the Doug
Fir Restaurant and Lounge and eflat.
His
portfolio of projects has grown over the last 7 years to a
vast, varied portfolio. His projects combine sustainable
building goals with high concept design. When not taking
over the world, Jeff hangs at home with his new baby or can
be found skiing area slopes.
Dan Peters
Nike.
Peters
studied art and design at the University of Washington.
Northwest born and raised, living in Portland / Seattle, he
draws creative inspiration from time spent in the mountains
and at the beach. Peters has been placing swooshes for Nike
for the past 9 years and has been professionally designing
for over 20 years. Interests: building log dwellings
with his son Kane on the beach in Manzanita , skiing, and
posing as a rock star / architect / fine
artist.
Jeff Behnke
Altura
Furniture - Together with business partner, Roland
Zehetbauer, Jeff Behnke has been designing furniture for
over 20 years. Behnke holds a BFA in woodworking and
furniture design from the School for American Craftsmen at
the Rochester Institute of Technology and apprenticed with
renowned sculptor and furniture artist Wendell Castle.
Behnke values the innate satisfaction of participating in
the entire cycle, from sketched concept to finished goods.
Altura was founded in New York City in 1983 and today
operates in its own state-of-the-art workshop in Portland,
Oregon.
Chris Bixby
Allied
Works Architecture - Senior Associate. Chris Bixby received
his architecture degree from the University of Oregon. He
began working with Allied Works Architecture in 1994 and
has played a key role in numerous projects completed by the
firm since. As part of the firm's leadership, he
communicates design concepts to clients and manages
projects through construction. He has been a guest studio
instructor at the University of Oregon and received the
2003 Ion Lewis Traveling Fellowship to study architecture
in Switzerland.
Chris Bleiler - Jury Facilitator

Christopher
Bleiler has been working as a designer for 20 years.
He brings a profound knowledge of materials and fabrication
to his design work which spans a range of mediums. Bleiler
studied at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. He
worked as an art director for Art
Muscle magazine. After renovating a number of historic
Victorian homes, he opened his own showroom of sustainable
furnishings in 1998. The company grew into an
interdisciplinary design studio. Together with Jennifer
Jako, Bleiler started Show2008 in 2001.
